Position: Plant Operator (Testing Technician)

- Ramsey, MN
- Monday- Friday, First Shift!


The Plant Operator (Cylinder Tester) is responsible for utilizing testing equipment to perform non-destructive inspections utilizing high frequency sound waves to measure physical properties such as thickness measurements and to identify material flaws including detecting cracks, corrosion or other defects in the gas cylinder.

- Inspect gas cylinders to detect surface defects and tests thickness of cylinder walls.
- Operate computer equipment and valve machine (if applicable) in order to conduct testing.
- Understand and follow procedures for testing.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment to safely move gas cylinders off of pallets onto testing equipment.
- Inspect, maintain and perform maintenance on ultrasonic testing equipment. Calibrates and adjusts ultrasonic testing equipment to required standards and settings.
- Record test results, cylinder serial number, and test date in a timely and accurate manner. Stamp test date and label gas cylinders once ultrasonic testing is complete.
- Review and interpret test results and documentation as it relates to local, state, and federal compliance and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Ensure that defective cylinders or those requiring maintenance or repair are removed from service until corrected.
- Additional duties and projects as may be assigned.

- High school degree or GED preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent. 
- Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position’s responsibilities.
