**Plant Performance and Reliability Engineer II**
As a Performance and Reliability Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support the execution of the System Monitoring, Diagnostics, and Control Groups' performance monitoring and test program by providing engineering analysis of operational data to identify, diagnose, and disposition performance and reliability issues of our operating assets. In this role, you will also facilitate root cause analysis of system and equipment failures and performance deviations to identify corrective actions needed to optimize the long-term operation of our systems and assets.
**A day in the life of a Performance and Reliability Engineer may include:**
+ Provide support and expertise in the execution of the Performance Monitoring and Testing Program to improve the overall performance and reliability of operational assets by delivering actionable insight to address identified issues
+ Individually and/or collaboratively, analyze data, identify process or equipment potential problems, and develop solutions to improve or maintain process and system performance to optimize operating costs, minimize failures or breakdowns, and reduce downtime and maintenance costs
+ Understand processes and process equipment used within the power generation, water and wastewater plants, and gas systems, including the application of thermodynamics, both the Rankine and Brayton cycles, and fluid mechanics to evaluate operational performance
+ Develop and monitor key performance indicators for systems and components within our system and understand utility processes, process control, mechanical equipment operation, and maintenance
+ Develop and perform monitoring and reporting efforts through the development and use of advanced analytics including advanced pattern recognition technologies, thermal performance monitoring software, and other historical operational data analysis tools as required
**Additional duties include:**
+ Perform analysis and review of unit and component conditions, technical drawings, cost, specification design, and feasibility
+ Coordinate and perform inspections and routine and special tests; participate in on-site audits
+ Preparation of analysis and performance reports and technical memos
+ Monitor and track operational issues
+ Coordinate with internal customers to troubleshoot and find resolution to operational issues discovered through monitoring activities
+ Conduct studies and research, including benchmarking of system performance against industry standards and equipment lifecycle and performance analysis to inform the organization on maintenance, risk, and investment opportunities
+ Create and maintain computer models and performance monitoring tools to aid in the analysis and operation of systems
+ Provide technical guidance to other engineering employees, operations and maintenance staff, and/or contractors and coordinate efforts regarding the operational performance
+ Perform root-cause analysis and investigations on failed equipment and systems
+ Design, manage, and complete small to medium projects independently, and support medium to large complex engineering projects
+ Perform and manage compliance testing, inspection, remediation, and rehabilitation efforts
+ Evaluate and monitor outside consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with specifications, bid proposals, and obligation
+ Conduct post-project review including punch list review and final walk-through
+ Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, processes, guidelines, and standards concerning engineering best practices and techniques
**Who You Are:**
+ Relevant and progressively responsible experience in an engineering discipline, preferably in a performance and reliability capacity
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
+ Knowledge of mechanical equipment, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics
+ Knowledge of industrial processes and process equipment
+ Skill in data analytics, data management, and technical writing
