Joining the Engineering and Maintenance team, the Plant Process Engineer will support API manufacture to meet business demands for the new AstraZeneca API facility being constructed in College Park Dublin, Ireland (known as APICOM), with commercial operations set to commence in 2026.

Accountabilities

Initially, you'll be part of a cross-functional team providing project technical support to ensure the design of the new APICOM facility is safe, efficient, and long-term operability is factored in. You will ensure that best maintenance practices are utilized in all equipment setup, including but not limited to functional location creation, development of maintenance job plan content, generation of maintenance-related procedures, spares part identification, and service level agreement establishment.

Longer term, you will play a lead role in the team by becoming a technical equipment expert for your areas under remit, organizing and managing service providers, supporting the Maintenance manager/technicians in day-to-day management by acting as front-line support on effective and efficient maintenance of all Process, Utilities, Facilities, and Tank Farm equipment including machine troubleshooting, investigations of major breakdowns, and technical improvement activities while meeting regulatory, quality (GMP), and safety (SHE) requirements.

The role also involves developing continuous improvement plans for your area of responsibility to maximize availability, quality, throughput, and cost-effectiveness by employing digital tools and operational excellence tools to provide continuous improvement to equipment reliability. You will liaise with other AZ sites to share best practices and learning, take ownership of the Maintenance Appraisal Process for equipment in your area, and complete Failure Mode Effective Analysis on high criticality equipment. Assist with implementing operational excellence programs such as Total Productive Maintenance and 5S.

This position requires both a strong technical background in Engineering and Maintenance and the capability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or a relevant technical qualification (HND etc) in EngineeringSignificant experience in Process/Utilities/Facilities, Maintenance or/& project experience including Reactors, HVAC, Purified water, Clean Steam, Process abatement systems within the pharmaceutical industry.Experience with CMMS such as Infor/SAP/MaximoExperience in leading and delivering Reliability initiatives, Change Control and Change Management.Proven teamwork and leadership skills, with strong communication and organizational skills.Problem-solving experience and skills.Technical and/or engineering capabilitiesData-driven to evaluate process performance for the purpose of problem-solving and optimization.API Pharmaceutical manufacturing awarenessGMP awareness

Desirable Skills/Experience

Proven industrial supervision/project management experience in a relevant engineering field (preferably Mechanical, Process or Plant Engineering) and ideally within the Pharmaceutical Industry.Continuous Improvement Tools and Techniques training (5S, Lean RCM etc.)Experience in Operational Excellence at Green Belt level.
