Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Plant Purchasing Manager to oversee all purchasing activities at our clients mining plant site. The Plant Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for the operation of the plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing within the mining industry and proven experience managing a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensures compliance with purchasing processes, policies, and statutory requirements. Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions to ensure appropriate sourcing of non-stock and stock items. Compiles and issues RFx documents. Manages end-to-end sourcing events. Evaluates supplier quotes, negotiates pricing and payment terms, and makes recommendations to end users. Places orders for goods and services, tracks delivery dates, and updates system information. Evaluates supplier performance and makes recommendations for improvement. Manages and maintains vendor master data, including onboarding suppliers and updating system information. Ensures suppliers are issued approved company quality specifications. Ensures all non-stock and stock items comply with company quality specifications and approves for final acceptance in collaboration with site managers. Monitors suppliers’ performance and KPIs. Collects and reports on site financial performance, including tracking target savings and inclusive procurement. Accountable for achieving and reporting on agreed KPIs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Commercial. 4+ years of sourcing and purchasing experience in Mining or Manufacturing. Minimum of 2 years in strategic sourcing experience. Inclusive Procurement experience, including working with Host Community Businesses. Previous SAP experience (advantageous). Experience in B-BBEE Reporting under the Codes of Good Practice and Mining Charter Reporting (advantageous). Solid sourcing and purchasing experience within a global company (4+ years). Strong negotiation skills. Detail-oriented and analytical. Effective decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment. Capable of working independently and as part of a team. Experience working closely with suppliers. Computer literate with intermediate Excel skills. Valid driver’s license and own transport.
