Plant Purchasing Specialist

SUMMARY Responsible for the administration of purchasing and receiving goods and services at the Warren East location. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for sourcing, negotiating and procurement of production and maintenance supplies and spare parts * Work with the Maintenance Team to identify & purchase critical needs * Makes purchases in a cost efficient and timely manner * Maintain, track, and report monthly supplies inventory to Corporate Controller and Plant Manager (both consumables & maintenance items) * Purchase and inventory administrative supplies for all plant departments and employees * Work weekly with Corporate AP to resolve any PO discrepancies * Issue purchase orders for capital projects as required * Assist with set-up of new supplier accounts as required * Reduce or minimize costs of plant parts, equipment, services, and consumable inventories by managing, analyzing, and communicating all purchasing functions * Develop and maintain key supplier relationships * Maintain and expedite open PO's (Expensed and Capitalized) * Support plant purchasing coverage needs as required (vacation and absence) * Optimize purchasing performance and efficiencies * Analyze spending, research/plan cost reduction strategy, and communicate findings to appropriate personnel * Support and ensure compliance with all initiatives, procedures, processes, and policies * Other duties and projects as assigned by Plant Manager SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: * Technical knowledge of manufacturing environment, especially maintenance * Ability to interact with all levels within the organization * Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills * Detail oriented * Ability to work in a team environment and independently * Excellent Microsoft Office Skills * Strong work ethic EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred * Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment * Maintenance purchasing experience preferred WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Office/Production Floor SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: * Technical knowledge of manufacturing environment * Ability to interact with all levels within the organization * Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills * Detail oriented * Ability to work in a team environment and independently * Excellent Microsoft Office Skills * Strong interest in continuous improvement * Strong work ethic * Ability to analyze complex issues EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree preferred * Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Office/Production Floor Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
