Position: Plant Safety Coordinator
Location: Hartselle Wood Reels – Hartselle, AL
Reports to: Plant Manager Hartselle (Dotted line to Division Safety Leader)
Wage: $28.84
Shift: 1st Shift

Role:

To lead the safety framework for the Hartselle Wood plant. Supporting the local leadership team to achieve a high level of safety culture whilst maintaining statutory compliance in line with US Government and Sonoco expectations.

Coordinate safety activities at the site to maintain a safe work environment which actively engages all team members in identifying, preventing, and correcting workplace safety issues to reduce incidents and eliminate Life Changing Events. Safety Coordinator will support plant to ensure safety activities, programs, and procedures are clearly understood and communicated to all plant team members.

Responsibilities:

Lead annual Safety Action Plan.Lead annual training efforts around Safety.Lead assigned elements and Sub Pillars for the Program.Lead root cause analysis to resolve Safety concerns.Lead and organize improvement projects in Safety around the facility.Lead new hire Safety onboarding.Track and Report Safety metrics.Complete daily shift audits and observations to ensure compliance and understanding.Perform basic Safety tasks such as data compilation, record keeping, and report generation, as well as basic problem solving for injuries & occurrences.Create and maintain supporting operation documentation for production areas. Job Safety Analysis (JSA), One Point Lesson (OPL), etc.Participate on division Safety teams as assigned.Must be able to work flexible hour schedules as business needs require.Grow to become subject matter expert for Safety.Leverage divisional resources as needed.Work closely with all shifts to ensure completion of all safety requirements.
