The Plant Superintendent at Hunt Forest Products' Winnfield facility will oversee the planer, dimension end trim, boiler, kilns, and support personnel. Through leadership, coaching, and mentorship, the superintendent will contribute to the development of future leaders. This role requires an individual who can effectively anticipate and manage necessary resources, understand production workflows, work collaboratively with the team to eliminate barriers, and continuously improve operations. The ideal candidate will ensure that all departmental objectives are achieved, including safety, production, quality, inventory management, personnel development, and profit margins. Essential Functions and Duties: + Manages department supervisors and leads, ensuring the successful operation of the mill. Reports to the Area Manager and occasionally to the executive team on key performance indicators, project status updates, and other departmental successes or needs. + Collaborates with Human Resources on proper documentation, due diligence, and required team member training. + Understands each machine center in the department and assists in troubleshooting production issues. + Ensures all SOPs for each department are up to date, reviewed, and signed by team members. + Coordinates with the Sales department to provide weekly reports and anticipates and plans to meet customer orders. + Works closely with department supervisors, leads, electrical, and maintenance managers to create efficient maintenance plans and schedules. + Understands value, including recovery, quality, and production efficiency. + Coaches and mentors team members to identify and develop excellent operators and future leaders. + Manages departmental spending through the review and approval of purchase requisitions. Oversees schedules, deadlines, and budgets, reporting results to the team. + Collaborates with the plant manager, department leads, and CFO to create production plans and forecasts. + Monitors equipment line efficiency and works with team members to maintain company targets and improve processes. + Works with the team to develop best practices and designs for new projects, focusing on both safety and efficiency. Education and/or Experience: + 5+ years of experience in mill operations and management. + College degree preferred but not required. + Software experience: Microsoft Office Products, industry type optimization software.
