 As Platform Architect you will be essential to building the foundation for Aerospike’s engineering platform. By aligning engineers on common tools, practices, and operational standards, this role will significantly impact key performance metrics and enhance the organization’s ability to scale while maintaining operational excellence. This investment will yield long-term benefits by improving the speed, reliability, and quality of Aerospike’s software delivery process.

Key Objectives

The Platform Architect will focus on the following key areas:

Standardization of Engineering Practices: Define and implement common engineering standards across teams to ensure consistency and efficiency in the software development lifecycle. Operational Maturity Model: Develop and oversee the adoption of an operational maturity model, defining  engineering and operating standards aligned with the product development lifecycle, ensuring all teams and products have clear expectations for advancing software through the PDLC.   Technology Stack Alignment: Define the technology stack for the engineering platform to streamline tooling and services, promoting collaboration, reusability, and simplification. Enhanced System and Product Metrics: Guide teams in defining and instrumenting metrics to proactively detect and resolve issues, reducing the impact on customers.

Skills

Expertise managing public cloud infra (AWS, GCP, Azure) a must; hardware/on prem a bonus Systems: demonstrated network, storage, Linux expertise Languages: (1 or more) Python, Go, Java, C; Python is a must, secondary languages are bonus Experience with developer tooling: IDEs (eg Visual Studio), source control (eg Github), CICD (eg Circle, Jenkins, Git Actions, Argo, etc) Observability - Datadog, Honeycomb, New Relic or similar (significant experience w/logging, metrics, tracing Scripting: bash, shell, et al Exemplary written and verbal communication; ability to effectively communicate to audiences from interns to boards of directors Able to lead without authority, influence stakeholders at all levels

Experience

10-15 years of experience in software engineering, devops, or SRE; 5+ years as a tech lead or architect required 3-5 years as a manager in one of the above disciplines is bonus Ideal candidate has experience with startups through scaling companies and/or large enterprises

Education

Bachelors of CS, EE or similar preferred (not required), MS in CS, EE or equivalent bonus
