Summary

The Data Platform Administration Team is seeking an accomplished SQL Server Database Administrator to join our talented group in Boise, Idaho. In this position, you will contribute to maintaining the platforms of a complete value chain from source systems to modern analytics platforms. We are looking for an administrator to establish standards and develop automation to care for a variety of database platforms while sharing knowledge with global teammates and peer teams. With a large on-premises environment, we are seeking an innovative and driven administrator interested in providing outstanding support and furthering our data-driven culture as we manage our current environments and grow into our Cloud architecture as well.

Key Responsibilities ​Administer and support SQL Server RDBMS environments (Windows) Strengthen team capabilities into Azure-deployed RDBMS platforms Administer and support PostgreSQL RDBMS environments (Windows / Linux) Administer and support Db2 RDBMS environments (Windows) In collaboration with other infrastructure teams, establish standards and processes to build, and maintain standards-based, reliable data platform solutions for the global enterprise. Establish and execute patching and version update plans to comply with (and provide input into) security, change management, and other applicable policies. Collaborate with other Simplot Technology teams on their data-related needs including advanced support of application databases Work with vendors and managed-service providers to enable their data-related needs/services and ensure their compliance with Simplot standards and policies Monitor for DB server health, database performance, and other indicators of potential issues and attempt to address them preemptively Refresh lower environments, perform database restores, conduct regular disaster recovery simulations, and perform all aspects of Lifecycle Management Utilize Azure DevOps for work item management, knowledge management (wiki), CI/CD automation, and source control Coordinate and prioritize the shared work item backlog with global DBA partners Participate in architectural/code reviews, produce documentation, and contribute to company-wide standards Cultivate cross-functional, collaborative relationships with global Peers, Data Owners/Stewards, and other IT Professions Communicate technical and business topics to key Business Stakeholders Manage and prioritize time across project, support, and enhancement initiatives Participate in L3 production maintenance, support, and incident response for our team’s globally deployed, 7x24 environments Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience 3+ years related experience and/or training in SQL Server​​​​​​​ Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration, LCM, maintenance, performance, and high availability Experience with PowerShell is strongly desired Experience with RDBMS platforms in Azure is desired Experience with PostgreSQL on Linux and Windows is desired Administration, maintenance, and performance (LCM, configuration, security, backup and recovery, tuning, etc.) ​​​​​​​PostgreSQL High Availability Experience with PowerBI is desired Experience with IBM Db2 on Windows is a plus Experience with other open source RDBMS platforms is a plus Experience with Microsoft SSAS, SSIS, SSRS is a plus A collaborative, team focus and a passion for people The inclination to continuously learn and to evolve your technical skills ​​​​​​​The willingness to teach and to mentor The desire to work on truly challenging, global-scale problems and standardization
