Platform Engineer
Description We are in search of a Platform Engineer to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role involves the development and management of scalable cloud platforms, leading and mentoring teams, and overseeing Big Data processing and Data science teams. The individual in this role will also be responsible for evaluating and onboarding modern data lake technologies. Responsibilities: • Develop scalable cloud platforms and micro-services APIs. • Lead and mentor teams, fostering a culture of best practices and agile methodologies. • Oversee Big Data processing and Data science teams, while promoting strong software architectural practices. • Manage multiple high-priority technology streams effectively. • Evaluate, onboard, and productionize modern data lake technologies. • Integrate and supervise the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions. • Monitor performance and advise necessary infrastructure changes. • Prepare database design and architecture reports, and define data retention policies. • Develop and implement Big Data pipelines and ETL processing. • Implement automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipeline implementations. • Ensure data security and privacy standards are met. • Analyze and manage data effectively. Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in platform engineering. • Proficiency in Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon EC2, Ansible, and Atlassian Jira is mandatory. • Experience with Auto Scaling, API Development, Automation, and AWS Technologies is required. • Familiarity with Backup Technologies and Cluster Analysis is highly desirable. • Extensive knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure is crucial. • Prior experience in cloud engineering, Apache Kafka, MongoDB, and microservices is expected. • Proficiency in Java and Java Application Development is necessary. • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile Development methodologies is needed. • Experience with Elasticsearch Technologies, NoSQL, and PostgreSQL is preferred. • Knowledge of Architectural Engineering and Platform development is essential.
