We support two Data Centers, 15,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions, a secure and reliable Network connecting all the technology across the bank footprint and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month. In addition to that foundational technology level, we own the operational support processes, monitoring and command center that provide a unified, well-managed technology response when issues arise. We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions, in partnership with our line of business CIOs, to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver.Overview:The Platform Engineering Team Lead candidate should have a combination of storage and data protection management experience. The platform lead manages and leads enterprise storage administrators and is responsible for operating storage infrastructure. The team lead ensures policies, standards, and procedures are followed. The Platform Engineering Team lead reports to the Senior Engineering Manager.Primary Responsibilities:Responsible for performance management of (8) storage engineersManages projects through the design, implementation, and testingResponsible for storage planning including sizing and procurementManage and maintain the bank's storage infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry standardsProvide expertise and support for storage management across block and file environmentsWork closely with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams on a regular basis to implement and manage the design, development, and execution of technical solutions that meet or exceed current and future needs of the organization.Evaluate emerging technologies and tools, making recommendations for their integration and optimization of our service offeringDrive automation initiatives to streamline PKI processes and enhance service delivery efficiencyMentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators. Review documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by less experienced staff.Follow and promote use of industry best practices, standards and procedures.Maintain a strong aptitude and working knowledge of Bank applications, systems, development environments. Maintain a detailed understanding of vendor technologies and services used by the Bank.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Scope of Responsibilities:Oversees a team of engineers.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:8Education and Experience Required:A combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ engineering and/or architecture experience and 3 years leadership experienceStorage Area Network (SAN) experienceExperience with disaster recoveryCapable of working on multiple projects of a complex natureProficiency with project management, word processing and spreadsheet applicationsComplete understanding of the system development life cycleExcellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolutionFamiliar with application development software and hardware platformsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent analytical skillsExcellent decision-making skillsStrong project management skillsStrong presentation skillsExperience encouraging teamwork and serving as role model when leading and directing othersUnderstanding of technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problemEducation and Experience Preferred:Bachelor’s degreeMinimum of 10 years’ technology management or large program leadership experienceExtensive application and product knowledge experience with skills, application(s) and functions of technology area ledSubject Matter Expert understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applicationsUnderstanding of multiple business area’s functionsProven mentoring and leadership capabilitiesExperience with skills, application(s) and functions of technology areaGood understanding of the Bank’s application frameworkAware of the Bank’s business plan and strategic objectives with ability to shape directionSelf-motivated and able to motivate othersUnderstanding business(es) supported and its’ terminologyWe support our team members with generous benefits. M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $110,635.01 - $184,391.68 Annual (USD).
