Platform Owner – Batch Automation and Command Centre

Job Purpose

To oversee the governance, compliance, and control of the Batch Automation and Command Centre platform, ensuring it aligns with organisational goals, complies with regulations, and continuously improves in performance and security. This role also involves managing the platform as an end-to-end service, covering all key stakeholder aspects such as financial management, customer experience, and supplier relations.

Security Controls:

Security Policies: Develop and enforce security policies to protect the platform from threats. Vulnerability Management: Regularly scan for and address platform vulnerabilities. Incident Response: Maintain an incident response plan to quickly address security incidents.

 

Continuous Improvement:

Feedback Mechanisms: Collect and analyze feedback from platform users to identify areas for improvement. Stakeholder Reviews: Conduct regular reviews with stakeholders to assess platform performance and identify improvement opportunities. Innovation and Upgrades: Stay abreast of technology trends and innovations to enhance the platform. Upgrade Planning: Plan and implement platform upgrades to incorporate new features and improvements. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for platform team members. Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the platform team.

 

Financial Management:

Budgeting: Develop and manage the platform’s budget, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals. Expense Management: Monitor and control platform-related expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency. Chargeback: Implement and manage a chargeback system to allocate platform costs to relevant departments or business units.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Platform Governance: Own the platform end-to-end, including governance, lifecycle, strategic direction, deployment of new services, and platform availability and stability. Design Approval: Work with infrastructure integrators to ensure designs and blueprints incorporate best practices and approve all designs specific to the platform domain. Service Definition: Responsible for the overall service definition and delivery. Vendor Relationships: Establish good vendor relationships regarding strategic direction and support of the platform. Business Strategy Support: Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives, and values. Personal Growth: Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities. Corporate Responsibility: Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy. Agile Thinking: Seek opportunities to improve business processes, models, and systems through agile thinking. Job Responsibilities

Platform Strategy: Define and align the platform strategy with organizational goals. Policy Development: Establish policies for platform usage, data management, and security. Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly engage with stakeholders to ensure the platform meets business needs. Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for platform performance and user satisfaction. Platform Lifecycle Management: Planning: Develop a roadmap for platform development and upgrades. Implementation: Oversee the deployment of new features and services. Maintenance: Ensure regular updates and maintenance to keep the platform running smoothly. Decommissioning: Plan and manage the decommissioning of outdated or redundant platform components.

 

Risk Management:

Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats to the platform. Mitigation Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks. Incident Response: Establish and maintain an incident response plan to address platform issues promptly.

 

Compliance:

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the platform complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Data Protection: Implement measures to protect user data in accordance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, POPIA). Audit Readiness: Maintain documentation and processes to ensure readiness for internal and external audits.

 

Industry Standards:

Best Practices: Adopt industry best practices for platform management and security. Certifications: Obtain and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, ITIL).

 

Internal Policies:

Company Policies: Ensure platform operations align with internal company policies and procedures. Training and Awareness: Provide training to platform users and administrators on compliance requirements and best practices. Control: Access Control: Implement robust user access management to ensure only authorized personnel have access to the platform. Role-Based Access: Define and enforce role-based access controls (RBAC) to limit access based on user roles and responsibilities. Regular Audits: Conduct regular audits of user access to identify and address any unauthorized access.

 

Monitoring and Reporting:

Continuous Monitoring: Implement continuous monitoring of platform performance and security. Incident Reporting: Establish a clear process for reporting and addressing platform incidents. Performance Reports: Generate regular performance reports to provide insights into platform usage and issues.

 

Change Management:

Change Control Process: Establish a formal change control process to manage platform changes. Impact Assessment: Conduct impact assessments for proposed changes to identify potential risks and benefits. Approval Workflow: Implement an approval workflow to ensure changes are reviewed and approved by relevant stakeholders.
  Minimum Experience Level 10 - 15 years Platform Specific experience of which 5 years includes operational IT experience Essential Qualifications - NQF Level Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees Preferred Qualification Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, ITIL) are a plus. Proven experience in platform management, governance, compliance, and control. Skills Strong understanding of platform governance, compliance, and control frameworks. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to develop and monitor KPIs. Experience with risk management and incident response. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and data protection laws. Proficiency in implementing and managing security controls. Continuous improvement mindset.
