In this position... 

The Platform Software Strategy Manger - reports directly to the Director, Software Portfolio Tech Strategy & Planning. This position is the recognized single point of contact for all platform software related technology strategy and planning work related to the current and future software architectures, for all current and future programs. This work falls generally under the category of what is commonly called “Fully Networked Vehicle” or “FNV” and in the future, the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV). This role is responsible for the strategy and plan development for the next generation software platform and the impact to rest of the architecture, culminating in the technical unit papers for future iterations of the software platform.

 

The Platform Software Strategy Manager will work with cross functional teams to analyze the business potential for evolving the in-vehicle software platform targeting greater efficiency, decreased complexity, and increased reuse and portability of the core platform components. 

You'll have... 

Bachelor’s Degree 7+ years of experience with software strategy and product management min 7+ years experience in driving software product roadmaps with end-end considerations, from cloud to app to car. 5+ years of experience in or involvement in open standards groups, either contributing, participating, or driving innovations. 5+ years of experience product managing data journey and analysis from conception to launch, with the product delivering end-user experiences.

Master’s degree in computer science or computer Engineering Proven experience in software lifecycle management, when building a software factory / Devops mentality Working experience in automotive industry, focusing on platform software innovations, including open standard and open-source solutions Proven experience with product management of commercial and open-source software integration Proven software strategy experience within the high-performance in-vehicle compute, with familiarity of the embedded operating environment including but not limited to Linux, AUTOSAR adaptive, Both open and proprietary Real Time Operating Systems, in-vehicle/cloud virtualization, Matter, etc.

 

 

 

Key Capabilities

 

Proven experience with software strategy and product management Proven experience in developing in-vehicle software platform solutions which are highly portable, modular, and extendable. Proven experience product managing data journey and analysis from conception to launch, with the product delivering end-user experiences. Proven experience in agile techniques to interface across an enterprise, akin to product backlogs Proven experience in software lifecycle management, when building a software factory / Devops mentality Proven experience with product management of commercial and open-source software integration Drive to solve to maximize rapid value creation for the organization, whilst mitigating the pain of software complexity Has managed and led a team. Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently and deliver high quality events. Experience coordinating multiple functions within an organization. Experience leading development through complex product gateways Familiarity with Human Centered Design and demonstrated passion for the customer  Strategic Thinker Fast Learner; adapts easily. Good working relationship with other skill teams Demonstrated excellence in oral & written communication. Good Communicator  Strong desire to deliver results in a fast-paced environment, work with all employee levels from technical personnel to Ford Senior Management.

What you'll do...

FNV and SDV assessments will include but are not limited to:

All sensors, cameras, and unknown 3rd party accessories Infotainment Driver Assist Technologies Machine Vision and Artificial Intelligence Motion, Powertrain, and Chassis Controls Body Control Module & related body ancillary systems In-vehicle Cyber Security and Functional Safety Vehicle Software Platform and related industry standard software protocols Communication innovations All vehicle networks including but not limited to CAN, Lin, Ethernet etc.

 

The positions will be required to interface with Research, Product Development, IT, Finance and Vehicle Programs regularly to ensure all technical architecture plans are aligned, appropriate, and achievable. The role will ultimately be responsible to translate work items into strategy papers and technical unit papers with developed business cases. These papers will be recommended for approval at VP or EVP level and adjust the Technology Cycle Plan.
