Platform System Architect (Teradyne, North Reading/Agoura Hills)

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to create and manage the vision for the next generation of Teradyne semiconductor test solutions. This engineer comprehends industry and market trends to identify essential requirements. Balancing all the tradeoffs inherent in system design, this engineer invents creative solutions, working directly with customers and closely with Product Marketing to understand customer needs, and with Product Development to implement new designs. Responsibilities + Effective interaction with customers to understand test needs, build trust and confidence in Teradyne, and foster ongoing collaborative relationships. + Continual assessment of industry trends and impact on product risks and opportunities. + Synthesis of roadmap requirements from all market segments and applications. + Identification of high-level product objectives and concepts for semiconductor test systems. + Fundamental comprehension of all tester functions, the associated interactions, and the relative contributions to a successful product. + Generation of innovative concepts for systems that economically test a full breadth of semiconductor types, with differentiated performance in areas valued by the market. + Effective collaboration with Marketing and Operations teams to coordinate new product development. + Proactive collaboration with development teams, including communication clarity, technical guidance, trade-off assessments, and change reviews. + Influencing senior management toward well-reasoned product and investment choices, including business, market, technical, and risk summaries. + Development and maintenance of long-term technical capability roadmaps that address market changes over time. + Contributions to initiatives throughout the company as a subject matter expert for customer tester platform considerations and solutions. Basic Qualifications & Skills + Minimum 10 years of experience developing complex systems that combine software, electrical, thermal, and mechanical elements. + Initiative, vision, and communication skills to effectively engage customers and to drive innovative and differentiated products to market. + Execution skill and requisite expertise for rigorous engineering trade-off analyses, applying informed judgement across technical disciplines. + Technical breadth across software, electrical, thermal, and mechanical engineering – including the ability to assess alternatives through a full range of abstraction layers. + Business knowledge and associated considerations for customer capital equipment investment choices. + Strong inquiry and listening skills. + Curiosity, motivation, and ability to quickly understand complex systems. + Minimum B.S. in an Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics field + Experience with semiconductor production, including responsibilities associated with capital equipment used for test, is preferred.
