PLC Controls Technician
**Job Title: Controls Technician** **Job Description** As a Controls Technician, you will identify and address equipment deficiencies to prevent failures, serve as an internal consultant for maintenance controls, develop solutions for long-term elimination of control deficiencies, and improve overall equipment reliability. You will work with network concepts, modify programming improvements involving PLCs and PCs, and provide technical guidance for hardware, software, electrical, and power transmission control systems. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to enhance manufacturing equipment controls, respond to user needs and questions, and ensure maximum uptime on all manufacturing equipment. **Responsibilities** + Identify deficiencies in equipment operation and design to prevent equipment failure + Develop solutions for long-term elimination of control deficiencies + Develop alternatives for control equipment replacement, upgrades, or program revisions + Modify programming improvements and control systems involving PLCs and PCs + Provide technical guidance in modifying hardware, software, electrical, and power transmission control systems + Collaborate with manufacturing engineering teams on equipment control improvements + Respond to shop floor user needs and questions about PLC applications + Communicate technical issues and solutions to maintenance and non-maintenance personnel + Update program backup files and associated documentation + Plan, design, and select technical solutions for planned and corrective actions + Ensure maximum uptime on all manufacturing equipment + Participate in continuous improvement programs + Maintain professional technical knowledge through education and professional networks + Work extended or flexible hours as needed + Comply with all IATF policies and procedures + Perform other duties as assigned **Essential Skills** + High school diploma or GED equivalent + 2-5+ years of related experience + Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) + Proven problem-solving skills + Proven interpersonal and communication skills + Experience in machining components + Basic math and reading skills + Ability to use standard shop measurement tools + Familiarity with engineering assembly and component drawings + 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering and control system design + Experience with PLC ladder logic, variable frequency drives, and servo control systems + Working knowledge of vision systems + Ability to work flexible hours + Experience supporting plant floor systems and applications + Ability to read logic/flow diagrams for program design and testing + Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings in DIN/ISO standard format + Ability to analyze blueprints and use mathematics for machine drawings + Ability to understand/edit PLC programs (RS Logix 500 and 5000) + Ability to troubleshoot Windows PC **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs **Why Work Here?** Enjoy a great starting wage, work in a new facility that is clean and climate controlled, and benefit from excellent benefits. **Work Environment** The work environment is clean and climate controlled, ensuring a comfortable working atmosphere. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, South Carolina. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
