About this opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated PLC Engineer to join our Instrumentation & Electrical team in Lima, OH. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the reliability of our control systems, ensuring flawless operations in our refinery. This position involves working on over 150 PLCs and offers the opportunity to collaborate with different departments, driving continuous improvement and innovation in PLC reliability and management.

What you’ll do:

Provide timely and efficient control system (PLC) support to operations and maintenance

Ensure 100% availability for PLCs in the plant

Identify and implement solutions to improve PLC reliability

Lead and participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs)

Manage obsolescence in PLCs and implement suitable upgrades

Troubleshoot PLC and process control system issues effectively

Program PLC logics and perform program changes, uploads, downloads, and backups

Develop and review PLC standards, guidelines, and documentation

Design and select PLCs according to approved standards and guidelines

Develop and review PLC-related work scopes for projects and Turnarounds

Review engineering documents, PLC programs, and provide constructive feedback

Develop QA/QC checklists and participate in testing (FAT, SAT, IFAT)

Perform QA/QC on PLC hardware, software, and installations

Participate in MOC, HAZOP, PHA, and other risk assessment activities

Optimize costs and perform cost-benefit analyses

Negotiate and optimize PLC service & material contracts

Manage work in SAP and handle PLC documentation and change management

Install PLCs, HMIs, control panels, and configure wiring

Communicate job progress and updates with management and collaborators

Who you are:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Instrumentation/Controls/Electronics/Electrical) required, along with 7+ years of relevant experience. Alternatively, applicants can have 15+ years of experience as a Senior Level Technician

Proficient in PLCs and control systems, with experience in Schneider and/or Rockwell PLCs preferred

Experienced in PLC design, programming, installation, commissioning, and start-up

Industry experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, or Manufacturing preferred

Knowledgeable in industry standards, programming techniques, and safety logics

Skilled in reading and reviewing engineering documents and drawings

Capable of troubleshooting PLC programs and managing updates

Knowledge of SIS and SCEs; TUV Certification on Functional Safety preferred

Basic knowledge of DCS, refinery operations, and instrumentation equipment

ISA CCST and/or NICET certification preferred
