Job Description
The PLC Programmer will be a member of the electrical maintenance team. The overall purpose of this role is for maintenance, programming, and ongoing support of PLC operations systems and processes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of machine mechanics, a logical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work with minimal mentorship. The candidate should be able to easily identify and craft robust programs fit for any mechanical or electrical purpose. This role operates in a union environment.
ResponsibilitiesCraft and develop control programs for electrical machines and systems.Perform fault diagnostics and maintenance as needed.Address and repair AC/DC circuits.Visualize processes to ensure the system is operating to its full potential.Develop, maintain, and deliver training to the team.Coordinate and prioritize work in support of production requirements.Assist in scheduling and supporting hourly electricians performing maintenance tasks.Plan work and ensure all parts needed are available to support electrical maintenance tasks.Support continuous improvement design and development of ongoing projects.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of validated experience and education.3 or more years of controls/PLC programming experience in an industrial production environment.Knowledgeable of NEC and NFPA regulations as they relate to electrical safety.Strong proficiency in Allen Bradley Ladder Logic programming for PLC5, SLC500, and ControlLogix.Knowledge of medium voltage and infrastructure.Familiarity with Wonderware.Experience in PLC programming from scratch.HMI programming skills.
