Opportunity Snapshot:
Compensation: $49/hour, DOELocation: Carlsbad, NMWork Schedule: 4/3, 10+ hours per dayAssignment Duration: 12 months+Benefits: Comprehensive insurance, 401(k) program, PTO & Holidays Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipmentTroubleshoot, install, configure, and test equipment/devices, as well as set up controllers, devices, and communication protocols with minimal assistanceInstall, program, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automation equipmentMaintain and repair automation and electrical systems for upstream onshore oil and gas operationsProvide on-site automation support and serve as a technical resource for control systems and field instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, vibration, etc.)Ensure compliance with industry and corporate process control standardsFollow PLC programming practices, standards, and Management of Change (MOC) proceduresIdentify and implement improvements for instrumentation and control systemsUtilize CMMS (SAP) for maintenance operations Qualifications2-year Instrumentation or Automation Technology degree (GPA 2.5+) or equivalent technical experience with a strong safety record or a GED
5+ years in the oil field
1+ year of upstream oil and gas automation experience
Experience with Allen-Bradley and Rosemount systems
Ability to read and interpret Cause & Effects, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control narratives
Basic troubleshooting of control networks (ControlNet, Ethernet I/P, Network Switches, fiber optics, RF communications)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate across teams and build trust
Active listening and problem-solving mindset to drive performance and results
