Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will use blueprints to determine any modifications needed in the plumbing system (e.g., openings, slant, level of water, gas lines). You will inspect and test systems and equipment for correct operation, flow, drainage, and sanitary conditions. You will lay out the installation and modification of systems, level of gas and water lines, and the location or arrangement of water closets, sinks, or fire sprinkler equipment. You will align pipes, valves, fittings, joints, braces, and supports to control movement, vibration, expansion, and contraction. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A PLUMBER WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION INCLUDING: 1) Installing, modifying, and repairing plumbing systems.(eg., sewage, water, oil, air, and gas distribution systems, water closets, tubs, backflow, prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers); 2) Determining equipment, tools, and parts needed for plumbing repair work; 3) Reviewing blueprints, building plans, or specifications to determine plumbing work details or procedures. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. A 40-hour work week is typical for this position. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Shitft work may be required. Emergency overtime may be required. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. PHYSICAL EFFORT:Work involves making repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the parts of systems worked on may be in hard-to-reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. You may be required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather. You may occasionally make repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. You may occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones and/or scrapes, burns, and infections This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
