Job Description
Seeking a Pipe Fitter/Plumber who installs, maintains, modifies, and repairs different types of pipe systems and associated components in office and academic buildings, student residential areas, and other university-owned structures on campus. This role primarily involves maintenance and repair with some construction work.
ResponsibilitiesLay out, install, maintain, and repair steam, air, water, gas, and chilled water lines.Plumb in lavatories, plant, ground, and floor drains and sewer lines.Work with hydraulic systems and pumps.Use various materials such as copper, steel, or plastic pipes depending on the project.Locate, cut, and drill wall, floor, ceiling, and roof openings.Make cut-ins on mains and lines and establish offsets.Measure, cut, bend, thread, and hang pipe.Make threaded, flanged, welded, leaded, or similar joints.Create brackets, hangers, and holding devices to secure pipes.Connect pipe lengths using appropriate methods (adhesives, soldering, etc.).Use pressure gauges to ensure proper plumbing function.Dismantle, insulate, and replace components as necessary.Install glass, non-metallic, or corrosive-resistant piping and fixtures as needed.Observe all safety precautions to avoid harm and property damage.Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.Be available for 24-hour calls if required.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.Three years of commercial plumbing experience.Thorough knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting at an apprentice level.Ability to read blueprints.Knowledge of mathematics, safety, and local plumbing codes and regulations.Familiarity with different grades and types of pipes, piping systems, plumbing fixtures, and tools of the trade.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to diagnose and repair plumbing and pipefitting malfunctions.Current certification in back-flow prevention preferred.Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand, walk, or otherwise move about campus continuously.Ability to ascend/descend ladders periodically to perform building maintenance.Ability to read and write to complete records and maintenance schedules and to read work orders, specifications, etc.Ability to interact and/or work respectfully and courteously with faculty, students, staff, and visitors.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
This position is based on a college campus and involves working in office and academic buildings, student residential areas, and other university-owned structures. The work shift is from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The role requires standing, walking, and ascending/descending ladders periodically. The work environment emphasizes safety and cleanliness.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.70 - $33.00/hr.
