Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity 

Downer holds three (3) Facilities Maintenance and Management Services Contracts with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF). At our RNZAF Ohakea site, we deliver a range of services.

The purpose of this role is to manage the timely, efficient and safe delivery of Plumbing maintenance tasks on the Airforce Base and defence owned residential properties in Bulls. 

To support Downer’s operational delivery by:

Zero Harm above all else Working under the direction (direct or indirect) of your designated leader undertaking works related to the delivery of service and /or projects. Working within the parameters relevant to the work, e.g., time, materials, costs, resources. Promoting strong collaborative customer relationships with positive interactions and value adding activities Assisting skilled tradespeople carry out maintenance, repairs, and project work, which are to be completed promptly and efficiently.  Complete work in accordance with contract requirements. Undertake tasks as required from time to time, as determined by the Site Facility Manager / Maintenance Supervisor. Working within, and assist with, risk and event management and mitigation guidelines. Promoting business according to our Values.  Escorting of sub-contractors, visitors, client, or any other authorised/ approved persons(s) as required.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

Registered Certified Plumber or Plumber Gasfitter with 5 plus years’ experience.  Able to deal with unexpected events/make decision / provide direction to work teams. Shows willingness/provides solutions to assist with a “continual improvement” philosophy. Organized and systematic approach to working environment. Strong planning skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
