**Responsibilities**
**J** **OB** **S** **UMMARY** **/ P** **URPOSE**
**This position is responsible for all plumbing, piping and steam systems and equipment. These systems are life support systems or essential utilities, including medical gasses/vacuum. Sewage systems, domestic water supply, domestic hot and cold water generation and distribution and steam and condensation systems (i.e., sterilization).**
**E** **SSENTIAL** **K** **EY** **J** **OB** **R** **ESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Installs, repairs and maintains hospital fixtures and equipment such as urinals, toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, faucets.
+ Install, inspects, and maintains all existing plumbing systems and related lines such as hot and cold water lines, steam lines, sewer lines.
+ Completes inspections of all plumbing systems and equipment according to established procedures completing log sheets, checklists and PM sheets as required.
+ Completes required documentation in reference to mechanical systems as required by federal, state and regulatory agencies.
+ Works as part of the project team.
+ Assist other skilled workers and perform general maintenance work as requested.
+ Assist Contractors with building information as needed.
+ Facilitates the efficient operation of the department by answering the telephone and assisting callers or visitors with requests.
+ Safe handling/disposal / packaging for Transport of Pharmaceutical Waste/ Hazardous Materials/Bio- Hazardous Regulated Medical Waste. 1) Completes the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) and Hazardous Waste education during employee orientation. 2) Tri-annually education for the D.O.T training. 3) is knowledgeable of the process for identifying the proper waste stream and uses the appropriate container to dispose of waste. 4) Knowledgeable regarding the process to contact the emergency response coordinator for hazardous waste/pharmaceutical release/spill clean-up.

**Required Education and Experience**
High school diploma or equivalent
Apprenticeship program or 2 year associate's degree preferred Plumber Journeyman License Preferred
5 years commercial plumbing experience

**Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training**
+ Must have strong relationship building skills and the ability to make and use connections throughout CHI Saint Joseph Health to complete projects and maintain strong partnerships with other departments.
+ Must have strong initiative and be able to gather and analyze information skillfully and be able to brainstorm alternative resources and directions.
+ Must be able to break down complex tasks into manageable parts in a systematic, detailed way and considers input from several sources.
+ Must be detail oriented in gathering relevant data while attending to essential details; checks work for accuracy and quality.
+ Must be able to problem-solve by identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner, as well as develop alternative solutions when needed.
+ Must have great flexibility and the ability to continually look for ways to make appropriate adjustments and changes -- rather than identifying why things cannot be accomplished -- in order to meet the changing needs of CHI Saint Joseph Health.

**Pay Range**
$20.62 - $28.35 /hour
