This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, and wastewater distribution systems, ensuring the hospital’s plumbing infrastructure operates safely and efficiently. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
· Oversee the hospital’s water, sewer, plumbing, and natural gas distribution systems, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with local and state plumbing codes.
· Install, maintain, and repair plumbing-related equipment, including steam lines, propane tanks, radiators, steam traps, valves, and pumps.
· Conduct regular inspections of buildings and plumbing systems to identify potential issues and maintain detailed documentation logs.
· Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing equipment, including replacing filters, packing, and other essential components to ensure optimal performance.
· Manage the requisition, procurement, and inventory of plumbing supplies, obtaining vendor proposals as needed.
· Install and maintain deionized water systems, ensuring proper chemical treatment and compliance with safety standards.
· Service and repair industrial cafeteria plumbing systems, including dishwashers, sinks, food disposals, and steam kettles.
· Respond to and resolve plumbing-related building service requests while monitoring facility conditions to prevent disruptions.
· Maintain tools and equipment through periodic cleaning, servicing, and proper storage to ensure longevity and functionality.
· Participate in maintenance on-call and standby duties, promptly addressing urgent plumbing concerns as they arise.
Required Qualifications:
· Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and equipment for plumbing, including wrenches, hammers, saws, pliers, blowtorches, soldering equipment, and gauges.
· Strong knowledge of plumbing materials, including steel, malleable iron, cast iron, galvanized iron, and glass, ensuring proper selection and application.
· Understanding of plumbing principles, methods, and techniques, including steam fitting, to support system installations and repairs.
· Familiarity with safety practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements governing plumbing operations.
· Ability to interpret and apply plumbing laws, rules, and codes to ensure compliance and system efficiency.
· Physical capability to stand for extended periods while performing hands-on plumbing tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
