Job Description + Under the supervision of the Design Standards Unit Manager and the Assistant Manager, the selected candidate (Plumbing/fire protection engineer) will be responsible for review fire protection, fire alarm, and plumbing design documents for tenant projects (TAA) and design audit, and project processing for Port Authority (PA) facilities to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and Port Authority technical standards + Specific responsibilities include: downloading the electronic TAA submissions, previewing construction documents, hydraulic calculations, specifications, and reports for completeness with codes and standards + Coordinating the review comments from others technical disciplines and preparing memoranda for transmitting comments to the line departments + Attend meeting with tenant Architect/Engineer of Records to discuss the review comments and resolve the issues + Assigning various technical disciplines for code review, and communicating with PA facilities to process TAA and design audit projects + Layout of plumbing and fire protection systems + Equipment layout and sizing + International Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code and Fire Code + ASME B31.1 Power Piping/ ASME B3.9 Building Services Piping Designs + NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required + Minimum of five (7) years of diverse experience in fire protection and plumbing systems design + Experience designing Plumbing & Fire Protection systems on various project type + Experience Managing projects, mentoring engineers and preparing plans + Knowledge of applicable construction codes and their reference standards in New York City, New York State, and State of New Jersey + Proper understanding of engineering disciplines related to building design and construction of transportation and related facilities + P.E is required Additional Details: + Fully Remote Opportunity with an MBE firm in NYC + 15 Days PTO, 8 Holidays, medical and life insurance (All applicable after 1 month) + Assistance with getting P.E License Please Apply to Posting ASAP for Immediate Consideration!
