Gannett Fleming/TranSystems New York City, NY Office is currently seeking an experienced Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer to support plumbing and fire protection design efforts for clients across various sectors including education, transit, transportation and industrial. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing plumbing systems; fluid distribution systems; fire protection systems; and coordinating with site utilities. Experience required includes systems design and applications, economic evaluations, life-cycle cost analyses, energy and water conservation, equipment selection, specifications, bidding documents and construction administration.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Design of plumbing and fire protection systems for various projects including commercial buildings, labs, hospitals, maintenance buildings, educational buildings, manufacturing facilities, airports, research facilities.Type of system will include domestic cold and hot water, sanitary, wet and dry fire protection, dry agent, and specialty plumbing systems.Survey and study of building plumbing and fire protection equipment and systemsTechnical direction of plumbing and fire protection designers and technicians on specific projectsDevelop written project status reports Project specification writing Project management Code interpretation and resolution with Authorities having JurisdictionProactive problem identification and resolutionCoordination and verification of project deliverablesParticipate in meeting with prospective clients, as well as general client interactionTravel to project sites for project related activities.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline6 plus years of experience in plumbing and fire protection engineering consulting PE preferredA thorough understanding of plumbing and fire protection building codes and construction standardsComputer proficiency in applications within MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.Experience with Healthcare, Higher Education and industrial facilities preferred. Experience with transportation and maintenance facilities is a plus.Excellent writing and oral communication skill requiredLEED Accreditation a plus.Knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Protection engineering software a plus.
