We are currently looking for a Plumbing Foreperson to join our team to help build the new Calgary, Alberta Arena!

Roles and Responsibilities

Accountable for project plans and schedules and ensuring the crew’s daily and weekly activities to meet goals Identify and/or verify that all tools and materials required by the crew are available Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate these to the appropriate persons Translate general work requirements into a prioritized plan for individual tasks and assignments Resolve, or if unable to resolve, report any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate person    Accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets standards and for recommending work processes that will improve productivity and product quality Oversee the execution of the work, including quality and production, by ensuring that the crew works to job specifications and follows blueprints Inspect completed work and initiating timely resolutions Ensure new crew members are oriented to the job Assess competency and capability of tradespersons; evaluating crew capability and benchmarking to others to ensure that the crew meets required levels of quality Assign individual and crew tasks Coordinate on the job training for apprentices and facilitating mentoring of apprentices by Journeymen/women Identify other training needs for the crew and facilitate the delivery of that training Responsible for facilitating a safe work culture and is accountable for the safety of the crew and must understand the legal liability of the role Responsible for ensuring crew members apply the standards for safe working conditions and are fit for work each day Conduct “safety tool box” meetings Completing initial safety and hazard assessments and participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews   Know, understand, communicate and ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and programs Recognize, address and resolve issues/problems among/between crews Accountable for the preparation of reports as required by the employer Maintain Foreman’s log or diary Complete quality reports Time keeping and time cards, including recording late stars/early starts Distribute cheques and handling problems with cheques Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions and discipline Performs other duties as required

Required Skills

Strong work ethic and positive team attitude Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy Good mathematical and analytical skills Ability to prioritize workloads and utilize planning & time management skills to adhere to strict deadlines Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to lead and foster a positive work environment Foster open communication within team and organization Ability to understand and communicate advanced construction concepts Intermediate computer skills (MS Office) 

Required Experience

Completion of a Journeyperson certificate Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Current Standard First Aid certificate Minimum of 3 years of experience required as a qualified and competent foreperson who is familiar with other construction trades   Proven ability in leadership and management of field staff
