Overview Provides patient care by collecting and processing samples and performing clinical laboratory procedures. Work at other Mercy facilities performing the same functions, as required. Work alternate shifts, weekends and holidays as needed to adequately provide services. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Responsibilities Position Overview In this Generalist position, you will be performing and analyzing waived, moderate, and high complexity laboratory tests as defined by CLIA in Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Blood Bank. Automated as well as Manual Methods will be utilized as defined by Mercy’s Polices & Procedures. This position requires strong critical thinking, intra and interdepartmental communication, problem solving, and a strong attention to detail. In addition to assisting the medical staff with identifying key laboratory testing results, a few additional Key Responsibilities will be: Calibrations and Quality Control for instrumentation Preventative Maintenance & Advanced Troubleshooting Assuring policy-designated turnaround times for results are met and appropriately reported and documented Maintain a well-rounded competency of all procedures and instruments within the laboratory Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree of Medical Laboratory Sciences OR Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology Certification/Licensure CLIA 493.1489 Standard Qualifications for High Complexity Testing MT/MLS Generalist or MLT Certification – Within 12 months of hire Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
