Overview In support of Power clients across the northeast United States, TRC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Project Management with experience overseeing a portfolio of testing & commissioning and construction management projects. The ideal candidate will be located in proximity to the northeast or mid-Atlantic region of the United States and have experience working with utilities and developers. The Director of Project Management is responsible for managing the overall execution of the project portfolio including testing & commissioning and construction management projects as well as projects from other practices as assigned. They will manage and direct the Project Managers and Project Coordinators assigned to execute the project portfolio and will work closely with the operational team to establish excellent communications and consistent execution of projects with the goal of positive influence on project outcome. The Director of Project Management will also work with the Project Management Office, to ensure process and practices are consistent with established project management practices and provide sufficient command and control of all portfolio projects. They are responsible for ensuring assigned opportunities are properly managed as well as ensuring each proposal is properly developed and reviewed prior to submission. It is expected that the Director of Project Management will personally manage a project portfolio as needs dictate as well as supervise the overall portfolio. Responsibilities Act as the direct representative of the field services practice in the project management office. Participate in field services practice meetings at the direction of the field services Practice Leader. Develop strong working relationships with the field services practice managers. Lead, manage and direct a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators in the execution of projects. Lead the execution of a portfolio projects for the field services practice and others as assigned. Hire, train and mentor Project Managers and Project Coordinators such that they can execute according to standard practice and procedures and have a positive influence on project performance. Act as the Project Manager on assigned projects leading a project team in successful execution of the project. Provide portfolio level reporting on status including margin performance. Working with TRC Legal, ensure the proper review and execution of contracts for assigned projects and proposals. Oversee project teams in the development of proposals including: Ensuring a clear understanding of project scope and terms Project estimation including well documented basis for estimate Project schedule Ensuring proper management review and approval of all field services proposals Work with PMO leadership in the establishment of a sufficient resource base to manage the regional project portfolio. Effectively manage project change to minimize project revenue variance. Facilitate efficient and strategic project billing, working within company’s accounting practices. Ensure proper schedule management including the development and upkeep of project schedules. Understand the requirements of PMO Audit Programs and participate as directed. Effectively communicate to the client, project teams and TRC management. Participate in business development related to project capture and build successful client relationships. Project safety, demonstrating safety is a priority via safety leadership, adherence to TRC and client safety policies. Checking completed projects for proper closeout and completion. Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping. Be familiar with the company’s corporate accounting, project cycle and reporting standards and participate in process and procedure development. Deliver clear and concise communications to the project management team. Provide quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders at all times. Acts as a champion to foster a positive project work environment; and successfully leads the team to accomplish all the project objectives on time and on budget Manages escalations internally and externally with the customer Lead by example, be a role-model for Project Management function Perform other department duties as required. In addition, the PMO Director must have strong judgement, leadership, organization, and communication skills. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Project Management. Minimum of 10 years related project management experience with specific experience with complex utility project management. Understanding of testing and commissioning and construction work flow and an understanding of utility project work breakdown structure. Demonstrate an understanding of commercial contract documents and subcontractor management. Demonstrate a proficiency in compelling efficiency in project management and execution to maximize project value and profit. The successful candidate will be fully knowledgeable and proficient in all aspects of the project management Body of Knowledge. Previous experience managing a team of 10+ Project Managers/Project Coordinators/Project Schedulers. Highly effective stakeholder management and negotiation skills; able to quickly build collaborative working relationships, influence without direct reporting authority, manage constructive conflict, and establish / maintain high levels of trust and confidence. Ability to self-direct and work independently as well as in a team environment. Solid business and financial acumen, excellent strategic critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with an exceptional attention to detail. Customer-oriented and innovative thinking, including the ability to lead innovative and /or transformative projects with a focus on continuous improvement. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on projects and exercise discretion and confidentiality where required. Good understanding of the regulatory and non-regulatory environment. Excellent written and verbal communicator. Excellent team building and motivational skills. Excellent budgeting and financial skills. Experience with appropriate software tools (Microsoft Office, MS Project, Deltek Vision). Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, overtime holidays as needs dictate. Preferred Skills and Experience: Prior experience in a Project Management Leadership PMP Certification Travel: Up to 30% to the client locations throughout the United States. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
