The Office of the PMO manages and delivers PayPal's end-to-end Technology roadmap through an operating model and strategy that leverages standardization, process diligence, and operational excellence. The Business Operations team drives predictable, streamlined operations, efficiencies and elevate employee engagement with sustainable consistency across the organization.
Your Way to Impact:
The PMO Enablement Lead will be responsible for driving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Project Management Office (PMO) by leading a team of analysts focused on enablement functions, defining and delivering the PMO tooling roadmap, and owning the PMO toolset's lifecycle and performance. This role will also oversee the strategic assignment of contract project management resources, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of leadership, technical, and operational expertise, alongside experience in PMO functions and organizational transformation.
Your Day to Day:
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of analysts dedicated to PMO enablement functions. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability within the team.PMO Tooling Roadmap: Define, execute, and iterate on the PMO tooling roadmap to enhance project delivery capabilities. Partner with stakeholders to identify needs, gather feedback, and implement improvements in tools and processes.Application Ownership: Serve as the application owner for the PMO toolset, ensuring optimal performance, functionality, and user adoption. Manage vendor relationships for PMO tools, including licensing, support, and escalations. Oversee updates, integrations, and enhancements to the toolset.Contract Resource Management: Oversee the assignment of contract project management resources, aligning their skills and expertise with organizational needs. Act as a liaison between PMO leadership and contract resources to ensure successful project outcomes.Governance and Reporting: Establish metrics and reporting frameworks to measure PMO enablement effectiveness. Provide regular updates to leadership on tooling performance, team productivity, and enablement initiatives.Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with portfolio managers, project managers, and other key stakeholders to ensure enablement efforts align with business objectives. Engage with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and implement best practices.What You Need to Bring:
A successful candidate will have a minimum of 8+ years of experience in PMO, project management, or portfolio management rolesAt least 3 years of experience in a leadership capacity or managing direct reports is preferredProven experience managing and implementing project management tools and technology roadmaps (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow Portfolio Management, Smartsheet, homegrown tools, etc.) is requiredExperience in vendor management and application ownership is requiredFamiliarity with contract resource management and allocation processes is requiredDemonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.Advanced certifications such as PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or similar.Strong understanding of PMO frameworks, methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid), and governance.Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decisions and improvements.Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.Change management experience, with a focus on enabling teams and driving tool adoption.Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, balancing big-picture thinking with attention to detail.A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field is preferred but not requiredWe know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates.
