Department Summary:

The N114 Resilient Warfighter Space Services Department is dedicated to achieving warfighter mission success by leveraging our operational understanding, technical expertise, comprehensive view of the technology landscape, and cross-enterprise connectivity. Our team conducts cutting-edge technical research and prototype development, providing senior government leaders with data-driven insights to advance space-based capabilities. Our diverse portfolio spans multiple missions, with a focus on resilient Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT). As a major contributor to the Space Warfighting Division, the N114 department enables resilient space-based solutions that enhance the effectiveness of joint warfighters in and across all domains.

The N114 Department is seeking an experienced PNT Systems Engineer to join our growing MITRE Los Angeles PNT team. The selected candidate will collaborate with various MITRE and government organizations and will be a key focal point for expanding our work in the SSC/CG PNT mission area. You will contribute individually within a collaborative team environment, offering data-driven recommendations for critical systems engineering activities related to the SSC/CG PNT mission. The ideal candidate will have experience in the GPS program, GPS systems engineering, and future technologies, as well as knowledge of alternative PNT technologies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Routinely engage with sponsor personnel to develop a deep understanding of their PNT mission challenges. Grow and strengthen sponsor relationships and enhance MITRE’s role by proactively work-shaping programs to achieve operational mission objectives. Provide expert knowledge in mission/functional areas including Resilient GPS, GPS Enterprise Modernization and Futures; understand mission objectives and current challenges, be able to analyze and resolve complex technical and operational issuesCollaborate with and become a trusted advisor to MITRE and Government stakeholders, make actionable programmatic and technical recommendations for achieving mission objectives, and oversee relevant system implementations.Conduct system engineering trade studies, analyze systems, requirements and architectures, and assess technologies to support engineering recommendations. Evaluate industry proposals to ensure they meet Government requirements and provide strategic and technical insights.Foster and demonstrate a strong and positive culture built upon MITRE’s cultural attributes of speed, risk-taking, adaptability, collaboration, grace, and respect. Facilitate a culture of diversity and inclusion aligned with the Air and Space Force Center strategy.

Basic Qualifications:

B.S. degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related STEM field, with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an M.S. degree with a minimum of 6 years of related experience.U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.Technical experience in GPS and alternative PNT technologies and trends.Demonstrated leadership and ability to build collaboration across organizational units.Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team to drive technical impact.Experience in the United States Space Force (USSF) acquisition process and programs of record.Ability to effectively communicate highly technical and conceptual ideas to MITRE and sponsors.Critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. in Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related STEM field, with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or a Ph.D. with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.Demonstrated technical expertise in GPS and alternative PNT technologies and trends.Experience working with GPS programs of record, including Control, Space, and User Equipment.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$150,500 - $188,000 - $225,500 Annual
