Monthly clinic - 4 hours/per month; scheduled day is flexible

 

Provides treatment to the patients withint the local county correctional facility and treats a variety of foot and ankle ailments, including calluses, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, and arch problems. Also treats foot and leg problems associated with diabetes and other diseases.

Responsibilities

Examines patients’ legs to diagnose diseases

Performs foot and ankle surgeries (for example, removing bone spurs)Treats sport-related foot and leg injuries, like fracturesUses various podiatric techniques (like casting and laser therapy) to treat deformities and ailmentsPrescribes joint pain relief medication and foot orthoses that improve mobilityReviews patients’ medical historyAdvises patients on foot care and general wellness practicesOrders additional medical tests (like X-rays, ultrasounds and bone density tests) to form a better diagnosis if necessaryOther duties as necessary

 

Qualifications Experience as a PodiatristExcellent knowledge of therapeutic and surgical treatments for the lower extremitiesFamiliar with all types of foot problems including genetic abnormalities and deformitiesGood interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well both with children and the elderlyEmpathy and patience when dealing with serious diseasesUp-to-date with latest technologies and treatments in PodiatryDoctoral degree in Podiatric Medicine
