Lab Point of Care Coordinator – Mary Immaculate Hospital

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Coordinator Lab Point of Care coordinates Point of Care Testing programs within the region. They perform both technical and process development functions to ensure compliance of the program with all applicable standards. The Coordinator participates in various committee activities for the laboratory and the hospital.

Licensing/Certification

MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)

Education

Bachelors, Medical Laboratory Science/Biology/Chemistry/Microbiology (required)

Work Experience

5 years of lab tech experience (required)

Essential Job Functions

•             Completes orientation and training along with competency assessment of staff and nurse trainers

•             Oversees competency of all users

•             Reviews/documents Point-of-Care (POC) quality and competency

•             Oversees appropriate resource allocation of devices

•             Implements Point-of-Care (POC) devices

•             Compiles monthly workload and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) reports.

•             Develops, evaluates and revises policies and procedures. 

•             Resolves operational problems.

•             Maintains appropriate inventory. 

•             Ensures regulatory compliance for section.

•             Instruments and processes implementation

•             Provides feedback to Supervisor/Manager regarding employee performance and tracks performance improvement if needed
