Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Polar Cutter Machine Operator who is mechanically inclined and has experience in printing press operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to follow written instructions accurately. This position requires setting up and operating a polar cutter machine, inspecting products for defects, and performing maintenance on bindery/finishing equipment.
ResponsibilitiesReview work orders to determine instructions and specifications for machine setup.Set up and operate a polar cutter machine.Examine stitched, collated, bound, or unbound product samples for defects such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn pages, loose pages, or uncut threads.Set up, run, and adjust bindery machines and devices to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes.Trim edges of books to size using cutting machines, book trimming machines, or hand cutters.Stitch or glue endpapers, bindings, backings, or signatures using sewing machines, glue machines, or glue and brushes.Inspect products and decide whether to accept or reject them to maintain the required quality level.Perform daily and periodic maintenance on bindery/finishing equipment and assist in repairs or rebuilding when necessary.Essential SkillsMechanically inclinedExperience in printing press operationsMachine operationBinderyPolar Cutter operationTroubleshootingFlexographyAdditional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of polar cutter machine operation experienceAbility to lift up to 50 poundsDetail-orientedAbility to follow written instructionsWhy Work Here?

Work Environment
This is a fast-paced printing environment with heating and air conditioning, though it can get warmer or colder when dock doors are open. It is a louder environment but is well-lit and clean.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00
