Manages Communications Unit; directly supervises communication specialists. Ensures the highest level of satisfaction and retention by implementing measures for quality control. productivity and efficiency. Observes and documents the work product of each communication specialists. Provides correction and training where needed.For the Oakland Campus and Regionals, develops policies and procedure. Ensures policies and procedures are being followed and conducts annual performance evaluations. Develops training and programs to teach and improve personnel's knowledge and decision-making processes. Trains personnel on the ENS system. Manages and crafts ENS messages, social media posts and website updates, as well as gathers approvals as required for distribution via appropriate channels, including website and social media messaging. Serves as a media liaison until additional communication support is available.Fills in as needed and operates as a dispatcher. Facilitates communications among all emergency teams.Monitors media, including social media platforms, online news sources, and broadcast network news in order to provide relevant information for message development to designated decision makers.Schedules and approves time off and monitors scheduling.Investigates complaints and issues concerning dispatchers and makes recommendations to supervisor when disciplinary action is needed.Plays a role in improving crisis preparedness, and participates in crisis management and tabletop exercises as needed.
