Job Summary
The Police Communications Officer I, under supervision, handles routine and emergency radio, telephone, and 911 calls for service following special or written instructions for transmitting and routing calls.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receives incoming emergency/non-emergency telephone calls from the public and disseminates information via radio for all law enforcement, medical and emergency personnel.
Monitors all telecommunications equipment including State and National computers.
Operates data terminals for the National Crime Information Center/Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems and personal computers for the University Police Department (UPD) computer network.
Monitors and responds to activation of a comprehensive closed circuit television and computer alarm security system, including 911 and medical emergency notification, and coordinates with all appropriate agencies and personnel.

Minimum Requirements
Education – High school diploma or GED.
Experience – No experience needed.
May not be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Texas A&M International University.

Comprehend technical aspects of communications equipment.
Communication skills.
Keyboarding skills.
Licensing / Professional Certification – None

Other Requirements
Work rotating shifts, evenings and holidays.
Applicant must successfully pass keyboarding test, communications performance evaluation and complete background investigation.
Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
Pay of Rate: $14.43/hour
