Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. The primary purpose of this position is to perform Law enforcement duties. Responsibilities You will possess apprehension/detention authority on a military installation and will be required to carry a firearm in the performance of duties. You will perform anti-terrorism/force protection duties to deter, detect, and/or deny unauthorized access. You will perform a wide variety of complex law enforcement duties generated by the surrounding area of the installation. You will respond to and/or investigate complaints of minor to complex incidents, patrol installations by vehicle, bike, or foot. You will perform law enforcement duties at fixed posts such as entry and exit gates throughout the installation. You will write technical descriptive documents/reports and perform other law enforcement duties assigned. You will Conduct daily inspections of posts and take immediate action to correct discrepancies noted. You will evaluate situations to respond using the minimum degree of force necessary to neutralize an incident. You will inspect private and commercial vehicles in compliance with established instructions and regulations. You will investigate circumstances or individuals that appear unusual or suspicious to prevent crime. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: maintaining order and protecting life and property: responding to emergency calls: complaints and other calls for service during the watch; subduing and disarming those who are doing violence to other persons; conducting investigative stops; gathering and analyzing facts; seizing and protecting evidence; interviewing witnesses and taking statements; conducting preliminary investigations; advising violators of rights; processing accident scene; determining whether facts warrant apprehension/detention or lesser action, and presenting evidence in court. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: responding to calls for police assistance and emergency help, enforcing traffic laws and issuing citations for violations such as speeding: conducting traffic stops and vehicle searches, subduing and restraining individuals, assisting accident victims by providing first aid, and writing reports of incident. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing a basic knowledge of laws and regulations; law enforcement procedures and operations in performing routine, recurring kinds of fixed post assignments, regulating access to buildings, governing rights of individuals, conducting security perimeter patrol. GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-03) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Six months of general experience must include experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws; AND you must possess six months of specialized experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. GS-05: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. The percentage of the required education plus percentage of the required experience equal to one hundred percent. GS-04: Successfully completed two years of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 12 semester hours in police administration, police law and evidence, police investigation, criminology, law enforcement, general law, or similar subjects closely related to police work. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Possess a combination of general/specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal 100 percent. GS-03: Successfully completed one year of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 6 semester hours of study pertinent to police work. OR Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one-year of experience. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to 1 year of experience. SUBSTITUTION OF TRAINING FOR EXPERIENCE NOTE: Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience or 6 months of general experience. Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. You must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer. This position requires rotating shift work. This position is subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/SOP. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position. You may be subject to interruptions from meals or other breaks while on duty. Overtime may be required. You must successfully complete a designated entry level training for USMC Police Officers Course of Instruction (Basic Police Officer Course) conducted at a designated location in an academy setting where candidate will train alongside Marines and you are required to meet all certifications, CPR, AED, DOD and Joint Training regulations. Training may be completed at a regional training facility. Physical Demands: Work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, standing, bending or driving and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more. Requires stamina, physical agility and dexterity and the strength to pursue, apprehend or detain. You may be required to push or drag heavy weights of 150 pounds or more. You will be required to exemplify the physical characteristics of agility in the performance of his/her duties. DoD and USMC regulations require at a minimum a periodic physical agility test. You will also undergo routine training in defensive tactics, handcuffing and firearms qualifications which require physical agility, dexterity and stamina. Work Environment: Work is performed in an environment which involves exposure to regular and recurring discomforts such as extreme variations in weather conditions while direction traffic and performing walking patrols. You may be exposed to high levels of noise in certain industrial settings, destructive weather or higher Force Protection conditions. The work involves moderate and high risks and possible endangerment of life or serious injury that requires the exercise of safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment such as vests, coats, gloves, boots, masks, shields, etc. You may also be subject to uncomfortable conditions where basics facilities may not be provided or functional.
