Summary
The Policy Development Coordinator is responsible for researching and drafting new and revised policies and procedures. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Researches, analyzes, and interprets state and federal laws and regulations related to assigned program or agency. Gathers information from appropriate organizations regarding policy recommendations for change. Makes recommendations for policy development and drafts new policies, or revises existing policies, based on research and analysis. Coordinates policy revision with appropriate legal counsel prior to implementation. Develops an action plan to implement policy and follows all guidelines and regulations. Monitors implementation of policy revisions. Maintains policy manual and other supporting documentation, including official notices and waivers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing the specific program area. Knowledge of policy development and program management and evaluation. Ability to research, analyze, and evaluate information. Ability to assess impact, effectiveness, and compliance of programs with existing regulations and policy interpretations. Ability to communicate information and provide technical assistance to requesting parties concerning policy interpretations.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in a related field; plus two years of experience in policy development, research or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
