Policy Writer
**Overview** The Policy Writer will be part of our team supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Office of Administration. The Policy Writer reports to the RiverTech Program Manager and On-Site Supervisor and provides on-site support for Logistics Management Division and stakeholders in documenting directives and instructional. **Responsibilities** + Coordinate with OSI Divisions and other USCIS offices in drafting policies through the agency clearance process. + Develop deployment plans for communicating and implementing new guidance across the organization. + Research issues related to policies by using the agency websites, subject matter resources and other resources. + Draft, organize, format and edit directives, technical documents, instructions, standard operating procedures and other guidance as needed. + Support developing written policies and procedures for extensive range of business processes, incidents and situational scenarios. + Draft technical documentation to provide guidance to field staff and various stakeholders with the necessary guidance to execute Logisitics Management related programs and requirements. + Review and coordinate comments on submitted drafts between leadership management and appropriate stakeholders. + Assist leadership and management in development of memorandums or other products that support communication of guidance and information within OSI Divisions. + Ability to research and draft policies using agency websites and other resources. **Qualifications** + United States (U.S.) citizenship is required for this U.S. government program. + Ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance eligibility and favorable pre-employment USCIS Entry on Duty (EOD) and Suitability Determinations. + Bachelor’s Degree in English, or related field. + Minimum of five (5) years of work experience relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position; relevant work experience may be substituted as a degree requirement. + Strong technical writing skills to include drafting and editing policy and directives for federal agencies. + High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, as well as SharePoint or other collaboration software. + Demonstrated ability to produce detailed and independent written correspondence in order to communicate operational requirements. + Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Ability to think logically and work effectively within group settings or independently with minimal supervision. + Ability to receive general guidance and instructions from a supervisor or via established standard operating procedures, and act upon them with minimal supervision. + Successful completion of pre-employment background investigation with results allowing for continued consideration for employment.
