Description:Position Title: Polysomnographic Technologist
Department: Neurodiagnostics
Purpose: The Registry Eligible Polysomnographic Technologist administers polysomnographic procedures for the diagnosis of sleep disorders as directed by the leader, in accordance with the policies and procedures of Genesis Medical Center, the department, and through adherence of the BRPT Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. The technologist will perform only those procedures required, but will assist registered technologists with more complex procedures.
Report To: Supervisor, Neuro Center
Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.
Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Field Of Study: Electroneurodiagnostics
Special Training: Basic Life Support
Training Preferred:
Licensure/Registration: Associate's Degree and must obtain RPSGT by BRPT within 1 year; or RPSGT at time of hire without Associate's Degree; or RST by ABSM. Must obtain Iowa State licensure through the Iowa Board of Respiratory Care and Polysomnography within 3 months.
Experience: No experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people. These may be fellow employees, customers, the public or others outside the organization. Communications are of limited difficulty. Interactions usually involve short, straightforward exchanges of information. The job requires a limited amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions are non-stressful encounters and dealing with uncomplicated problem situations.
Working Conditions: There is exposure to some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics. The physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk. No safety equipment or unusual precautions are required. Exposure to these conditions would be limited to 70% or less of the work day.
