The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering projects, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion of all tasks related to mechanical systems and infrastructure within the mining operation.
An ideal candidate must satisfy the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. IEPNG accreditation will be well regarded Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the mining industry. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, project management, and engineering principles. Detailed understanding on Australian, ASME and API mechanical standards Proven ability to lead and manage engineering projects from inception to completion. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Design experience using 3D modelling/AutoCAD Preferably has worked in an Engineering Design office
Key duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Conduct detailed design and calculations for mechanical engineering systems and equipment Provide technical expertise in mechanical systems, including maintenance, upgrades, and new installations. Conduct detailed Condition assessments of existing equipment Participate and run MOC’s, HAZOP’s and HAZIID’s Liaise with external engineering parties on design and studies Write Mechanical engineering standards and specifications and guidelines Respond to Technical Queries Complete scopes of work for mechanical engineering projects Complete, concept and feasibility studies Conduct preliminary cost and labour estimation for projects Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including contractors, other engineers and production and management teams, to ensure project timelines and goals are met. Conduct risk assessments, monitor project progress, and report on performance against objectives. Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and relevant regulations. Maintain a high level of health, safety and environment awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.
Mobilization Requirement
This position is open to PNG Citizens Only Rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage). Must Have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
