New Porgera Limited (NPL) has an immediate vacancy within the Plant Maintenance Section of the Fixed Plant Maintenance Department for a Trade Assistant – Crusher Sag Mills role. Reporting to the Supervisor – Crusher Sag Mill, the incumbent will join a dynamic team of experienced tradespersons. The successful candidate will be required to assist the trades’ people in a trainee capacity to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner, performing the following duties and responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities

As a Trade Assistant, you will:
•    Provide assistance in fitting Crusher Sag Mill
•    Assist tradesperson to resolve operational or technical equipment problems to minimize interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures
•    Trouble shoot, report faults and taking the necessary remedial and corrective action in the area of responsibilities
•    Confer with area supervisors to gain knowledge of work situations
•    Conduct general safety inspections in area and equipment of responsibility
•    Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and proper manner within government regulations & company policy
•    Maintain high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need;
•    Minimum of Grade 10 or above educational level with Trades Certificate in Fitting and Machining. 
•    Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team in both English and/or Tok Pisin.  
•    Formal training and experience in sag mills crushing is highly desired
•    Trade qualifications highly desired
•    Previous participation in Job Ready or Trade Training Programs highly desirable
•    Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
•    Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and protocols
•    Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from Tradesperson and Supervisor.  
•    Physically fit and able to work in different weather conditions

Mobilization Requirements

•    All applicants must have an up-to-date police clearance certificate, obtained within the last 6 months
•    Ability to successfully pass a pre - employment medical and drug and alcohol test
•    Be a Local Porgeran (Cat 1 or Cat 2) Candidate and be available to start immediately 
•    The Roster is 14 days on and 7 days off
