The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Trade Assistant - Plumber

 

In this role, you will:

Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, pipes, and water systems under the direction of a qualified plumber Prepare, maintain, and organize tools, materials, and equipment needed for plumbing jobs Follow all health and safety protocols to support a safe working environment, including the correct handling of hazardous materials and tools Assist in performing routine inspections and minor maintenance on plumbing fixtures to ensure functionality and safety Accurately document completed tasks, materials used, and maintenance activities as required by the supervisor Work closely with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to achieving project timelines. Undertake other tasks as directed by the Plumbing Supervisor to support plumbing and maintenance objectives Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.

 

About You

 

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

 

Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent. Basic knowledge of plumbing systems and tools (formal plumbing training or certifications are advantageous). At least one (1) year of experience in a trade assistant or similar role, ideally in plumbing, construction, or maintenance. Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks under guidance. Strong attention to detail, with good manual dexterity and the ability to handle tools safely. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately. Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic understanding of workplace health and safety standards.

 

Mobilization Requirement 

 

This is a PNG National Award position, a site-based role on a Walk in Walk out arrangement with rotation of 14 days on and 7 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). This is a non-camp position and successful candidate will find his or her own accommodations.
