Job Description
Oncology is a key therapeutic area for AbbVie, with a portfolio consisting of both marketed products and a pipeline containing multiple promising new molecules that are being studied in nearly 200 clinical trials in 19 different types of cancer.
AbbVie is expanding its oncology hub on the West Coast, focused on the discovery and development of novel oncology therapies. More than 1,000 AbbVie scientists, clinicians, and product developers with strong entrepreneurial roots work. They combine their expertise in immuno-oncology, stem cells, and cell-signaling with their knowledge of bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and covalent-inhibitor technologies to discover and develop novel cancer treatments. This position is based at AbbVie in South San Francisco location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to Sr. Director, Oncology Early Development (OED) Portfolio and Program Management (PPM), this position will be responsible for planning and directing operational activities to ensure the vision and objectives of the OED organization are achieved. This position will organize and prioritize critical issues, required information, and oversight to support OED acceleration, provide operational and strategic support and optimize how OED deliver to our strategic priorities, initiatives, and related processes. Additionally, this role will manage the branding and communication of OED organization including OED Townhalls, landing page, newsletters, and external communication effort in collaboration with corporate communication group, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Partner with oncology early development leadership to define and articulate clear, actionable short and long-term strategic objectives.
+ Facilitate the translation of these goals into actionable plans, ensuring alignment and focus on critical priorities.
+ Lead OED branding effort, develop and implement internal and external communication strategy and plan.
+ Ensure operational excellence across the OED organization.
+ Conduct in-depth benchmarking both within the organization and against industry standards to identify best practices and areas for improvement.
+ Utilize insights to enhance project execution strategies, prioritizing initiatives that significantly impact operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
+ Work closely with finance and other teams to develop and implement criteria for resource allocation, ensuring projects are prioritized based on their potential for delivering maximum strategic value.
+ Preparation to scale OED model to support future portfolio
+ Determine future capability needs aligned to model & pipeline priorities
+ Define clearly delineated roles, responsibilities, capabilities, and underlying systems & processes to support model
+ Manage engagement of the organization to support the changes
+ Develop communications materials and cascade to convey vision and case for change
+ Engage leaders and team members to build support for the new operating model
+ Partner with OED PPM and OED Sr. Staff to determine and prioritize business strategies and key projects, initiatives, and related processes.
+ Oversee the collection, synthesis, and communication of relevant information that informs OED strategies.
+ Plan, coordinate and keep contents to ensure focused meeting cadences and outcomes.
+ Partners closely with other functions to ensure clarity and seamless ways of working between OED and other organizations.
+ Maximizes opportunities to highlight best practices and shared learnings across OED and cross-functional partners to reduce duplication of efforts.
+ Ensures processes are in place to support integrated planning, operations, and process execution.
+ Leads or represents OED on strategic initiatives that have a significant impact to the organization. Ensures that the organization’s voice is represented and works to develop solutions that are optimal for AbbVie and OED.
+ Develops and maintains business relationships across functional areas across AbbVie to implement frameworks that ensure OED expertise, capabilities, and resources are leveraged appropriately across the different portfolio of work.
+ Develops and delivers executive level presentations covering strategic initiatives, organizational updates, and other critical information.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in scientific or business-related field preferred. Consulting firm experience preferred.
+ 7-10+ years industry experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other healthcare related field.
+ Experience leading broad organizational initiatives and working with cross-functional teams.
+ Project management experience on global projects.
+ Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
+ Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
+ Ability to effectively present ideas and document complex processes in both written and oral communication.
+ Proven track record of anticipating and resolving problems while exhibiting judgement and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary: $172,000 - $326,500
