The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

The Portfolio Director, Talent Pipeline Assessments you will be a part of the People, Purpose & Brand (PP&B) Talent Pipeline organization, a team that partners with business and function leaders to define skill needs for today and tomorrow and co-create offerings in service of selecting and developing our talent and evolving our diverse, global workforce to grow and contribute to our shared purpose and enterprise goals. 

 

You will be responsible for setting and maintaining the assessment, skills and research architecture to support a skills-based talent strategy. As a part of the Pipeline Planning & Programs team, you will also provide global thought leadership which may include partnering, guiding and directing other talent professionals who design and implement solutions that can be scaled across the enterprise. 

  

Responsibilities: 

Innovate Talent Pipeline Solutions: Apply I-O psychology principles to source and implement cutting-edge methods for managing the talent pipeline, with a focus on prehire assessment, skills assessment, and learning assessment that align with business needs and employee growth.Develop and Sustain Skills Architecture: Shape and maintain the framework for Liberty’s skills-based talent strategy, from how skills are identified and utilized within the talent pipeline by conducting job analysis and competency modeling, skills identification and validation based on job requirements, defining skill proficiency levels and maintaining an adaptive skills database.Research and Insights Integration: Conduct continuous research on market and industry trends, I-O best practices, and emerging technologies in areas such as talent planning, selection, learning, and performance management. Synthesize findings into actionable insights and maintain a dynamic knowledge repository for the team and organization.Manage Assessment Portfolio: Oversee our end-to-end assessment portfolio using I-O methods to define requirements, conduct skills-gap analysis, select tools, and measure outcomes. Ensure all assessments are aligned with skills-based strategy principles, supporting effective decision-making and development.Collaborate for DEI Excellence: Partner with DEI Research & Insights to promote diversity and inclusion within the talent pipeline, ensuring equal opportunities and fair practices for all employees.

Core Competencies: 

Stakeholder Management & Influence: Proven ability to build collaborative and trusting partnerships across all organizational levels, particularly with senior and executive stakeholders, and communicate insights effectively with senior leaders to influence positive outcomes.Data Analysis, interpretation and Insight Generation: Proficient in analyzing and interpreting global trends, research findings, and data, using I-O psychology methodologies to inform continuous improvement within the skills architecture and talent pipeline. Strong analytical skills for data-driven insights on assessment effectiveness and skills gaps.Effective Communication and Presentation: Proven ability to communicate and lead initiatives effectively through writing, presentations, and industry engagement in professional organizations with ability to own and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Project & Portfolio Management: Ability to oversee complex assessment projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Critical Job Skills:

Psychometrics & Assessment Design: Expertise in creating reliable, valid, and fair assessment tools for prehire, skills and learning measurement.Skills Taxonomy Development: Ability to structure and maintain skills frameworks across levels, aligning with evolving business needs.Evidence-Based Practice & Research: Skilled in applying and translating I-O psychology research to inform assessment strategy. Qualifications PhD in Industrial Organizational Psychology.5+ years’ experience working in the private sector, applying academic research to day-to-day business challenges and operations.Adept at problem solving and critical thinking, project management, top-down communication teamwork, partnership, and collaboration, change agility (adapting to changing priorities, drive and resilience), ownership of the work and managing multiple projects simultaneously and decision making.Data analysis, research methods and statistics, individual assessment, business ethics and legal compliance related to AI, DEI in Assessment and understanding of psychological theory and human behavior.
