**Summary** :

The Portfolio Manager’s primary role is to perform relationship management responsibilities with limited oversight for an existing commercial banking portfolio. Portfolio Managers play a vital role in obtaining, analyzing, and recording commercial client financial information on an ongoing basis to assess continued credit quality and covenant compliance, in annual reviews. Successful Portfolio Managers have the ability to analyze financial data and loan documentation, promote and monitor client relationships and growth, and conduct transaction negotiation for renewals, modifications, and new facilities for clients in the assigned portfolio.
**Principal Accountabilities** :
+ Maintains a portfolio supporting multiple loan officers. The minimum portfolio size under management will be assigned based on the Portfolio Manager’s expertise, experience level, and lending areas assigned. Expectations will be provided to Portfolio Managers on a regular basis.
+ Manages pre-closing activities in support of loan officers, including receiving and reviewing prospect information, drafting Opportunity Memoranda (OM), assisting with drafting Credit Application Submissions (CAS), presenting loan opportunities to the Executive Credit Committee, drafting term sheets, defining the scope of appraisals and environmental investigations, analyzing financial statements for accuracy and completeness, and communicating directly with clients and prospective clients to facilitate loan closing.
+ Manages portfolio to sound credit quality, overall portfolio return, client retention, and relationship banking to include modifications, renewals, risk rating changes, obtaining covenant waivers, and drafting change memos, all in a timely and efficient manner.
+ Acts as a resource for lending support associates and loan officers to ensure all associates are providing the highest and best value of their time and talents.
+ Regularly interacts with Executive Credit Committee with respect to portfolio clients by providing portfolio recommendations regarding hold size, risk ratings and watch list reporting; making recommendations for periodic reviews and add-on opportunities; reporting on performance trends, preparing quarterly trend card updates and portfolio dashboard, and preparing annual reviews.
+ Works closely and collaboratively with other departments, including credit and loan review with respect to underwriting and performance, legal (inhouse and outside) on closing loans, treasury management for treasury product sales and ongoing client treasury needs, and IT and Credit Admin on loan origination system platform management.
+ Maximizes use of loan origination system and client relationship management system to the benefit of colleagues and the bank, while continually looking for process improvements and automation opportunities.
+ Mentors and develops skills of commercial banking associates, including Associate Portfolio Managers and Commercial Banking Loan Support Associates.
+ Attends outside client calls with commercial bankers to facilitate PM as primary contact for most client transactions.
+ Attends marketing pipeline meetings.
+ Ensure work premises constitutes a safe work environment that promotes positive bank image, including regular inspection for and remediation of any hazardous conditions; regular maintenance and cleaning of premises; adherence to all posting requirements in jurisdiction, including human resources and compliance postings; and provision of comfortable and appropriate space for associates to conduct banking business.

+ Maintains client information in complete confidence.
+ Completes other specified duties as assigned.
+ Regular attendance required, working at the assigned worksite, or assigned remote location during regular business hours and/or assigned hours.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting or finance preferred.
+ Three-plus years of experience in underwriting and analyzing corporate credit, handling borrower relationships, and closing direct loan originations.
+ Strong financial analysis; written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
+ Must be goal-oriented, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and client-focused with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex data and structural components to a variety of people and work in a team-building environment.
+ Proficient use of standard computer/software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite of products, Internet, video conferencing; Experience in Salesforce and nCino or other loan originating system strongly preferred
**Physical Requirements**
The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. Reaching may be required involving the ability to move arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone, will be used requiring the ability to manipulate a keyboard, mouse, and/or keypad. The ability to decipher a computer screen or written documents is necessary. The ability to express or exchange ideas; impart information to clients, coworkers, or the public; or to convey detailed or important instructions; is required. The ability to receive and understand detailed information shared through oral or written communication is required. Position requires occasional lifting and/or the exerting of up to ten pounds of force. If associate is approved for any hybrid work locations, lifting of about 5 lbs. (laptop) is required twice daily. Position will involve moving about the workspace to reach entrances/exits, restrooms, conference rooms, or other areas within the work environment. The position involves frequent, sustained periods of sitting but also frequent, sustained periods of standing or moving from one worksite to another, including for example client locations, community events, and/or building sites. Position requires the ability to timely transport oneself from one local work site to another local work site via automobile or public transportation on a regular basis. Exposure to the elements is possible while outdoors.
