Portfolio Risk - Managing Director
SummaryMizuho U.S. Operations is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Managing Director to lead the Risk Analytics function. This team is responsible for model development for Americas Risk Management within the Market, Liquidity, Credit, and Non-Financial Risk stripes in alignment with the firm's growing business strategy. Responsibilities + Provide strategic direction and leadership to a 20+ member team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. + Ensure strict adherence to SR 11-7 model development, testing, and documentation guidelines and lead engagement with colleagues in Model Risk Management for model validation efforts. + Influence and guide technology strategy to ensure that it meets the needs of the Risk Analytics team and the broader firm. + Manage model development priorities with business stakeholders while improving model development timelines and depth of analytics. + Proactively improve operational and methodological resilience of Risk Analytics-owned models including the VAR and EPE model suites. + Engage model owners as subject matter expert on model development options for resolution of identified limitations and expansion of capabilities in areas including credit risk, stress testing, and capital planning. + Communicate effectively to management and stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment on model development strategy and pipeline. Qualifications + 15+ years of experience in a senior risk management role, preferably within the financial services industry. + Advanced degree in finance, mathematics, physics or a related field. + Strong understanding of risk modeling techniques and regulatory requirements. + Experience in developing and implementing risk management tools and technologies. + Strong communication skills, with experience in presenting both to senior management and regulators. The expected base salary ranges from $300,000 - $325,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
