Utilizing innovative methods to identify patients who may benefit from treatment, we must take a highly strategic approach to patient access while assisting patients and their caregivers to navigate the healthcare system.Your OpportunityIt is with this context that we introduce the Commercial, Medical and Government Affairs (CMG) Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic (CVRM) Squad Leader (Vice President) position. This role serves as the inaugural leader of the U.S. CVRM Squad and Network and will be responsible for the commercial and medical progress of our emerging suite of developing treatments within the CVRM therapeutic area.As the first to assume this critical position, the CVRM Squad Leader will be responsible for the commercial and medical progress of our emerging suite of developing treatments within the CVRM therapeutic area. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategy and direction of this therapeutic area, partnering closely with GPS, PD, PT, and Medical colleagues to collectively lead the development of new cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic assets and commercialize them in the US market pending FDA approval. The CVRM Squad Leader serves as the U.S. Squad and network leader with very high impact and represents a significant opportunity for a pioneering, patient-centric, and competitive leader.Role Accountabilities:Profit & Loss AccountabilityAccountable for the revenue & opex for the cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic medicines business.Set and deliver on ambitious revenue targets while maximizing investments & profitability.Leading Squad and TA NetworkLead the development of an integrated therapeutic area strategy that includes a clear articulation of the value proposition for each product(s), and the approach across each key customer type and Customer Engagement role.Inspire the network to deliver patient and customer value over organizational hierarchy and internal focus, and redirect perfectionism into meaningful impact.Bring forward input from the entire team across all subjects and hold individuals accountable for their contributions.Leverage expertise from all team members to determine and implement optimal product strategies across ecosystems.Lead the development of annual and longer-term portfolio contribution options and tradeoffs, including proactive identification and mobilization on investment/divestment/exit opportunities when appropriate.Demonstrate courageous leadership, making the final call where the Squad is not aligned.Pipeline DevelopmentLeadership accountability for developing Genentech's point of view and representing the US at key investment and in-licensing decision points for the Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic Therapeutic Area.Partner with Global (and GPS and Product Development where applicable) to lead and coordinate U.S. input to the global franchise/brand teams and work closely with the pipeline leads and New Product Commercialization to support pipeline expansion.Oversee development of US Target Product Profile/business case, and influence effectively Clinical Development Plan (CDP), Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP), and Clinical Operations trial sites plan to optimize molecule development & regulatory approval for the US market.Global LeadershipServe as a member of the CVRM Global Product Strategy Disease Area Commercial Leadership Team (DA CLT). Relocation assistance is being provided with international travel required, including customer engagements and Congresses.Salary:The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $332,700 - $436,695. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for benefits.Key Qualifications and Experience Required:Bachelor's DegreeMBA, PhD, or other related graduate-level degree preferred.Average of 15 or more years’ work experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.Experience working in or demonstrated partnership/leadership of:Customer Facing FunctionsMedical/Scientific FunctionsAccess Functions – Payer, Intermediary (GPO, PBM, Distributors), Pricing & ContractingProduct MarketingDigital, data, analytics & technologyExperience with aligning strategy & execution in go-to-market at key events (e.g., product launches, major competitive entry, loss of exclusivity).Demonstrated success with harnessing expertise across diverse teams to bring out the best thinking, listening, and collaboration across multiple functions.Effective leadership of Business Planning Processes including development & implementation outcomes, strategies, leading & lagging indicators, and metrics.Demonstrated fluency with prioritization & making sound tradeoff decisions.Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding ambitious financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals.
