Description:What You Will Be Doing
The Positioning-to-Win (PTW) Analyst profession requires a self-motivated individual who independently formulates and refines timely market-driven estimates of what a Capture Team must bid to win a competitive pursuit.
This includes establishing Price and Non-Price targets for each LM Aero Capture activity, developing cost and technical analyses for each competitor on campaigns across all product lines in our 3 major sites, and converting these analyses into actionable intelligence for the capture lead. These analyses can be key elements of the bid / no bid process and are part of an iterative activity that begins early in the capture process, with multiple pre and post RFP deliverables.
Specific roles & responsibilities include:
Develop CPS-009 compliant competitor analyses for Aeronautics campaigns.
Provide competitor pricing and technical analyses, often quick turnaround, to capture leads and senior executives.
Participate in and/or support CPS-009 Capture Process reviews, i.e. Customer Value Proposition (CVP), Black Hats, Gold Teams, etc., as necessary.
PTW Infrastructure Development and Maintenance: This activity includes developing tools and methodologies for all aspects of the PTW process.
• Non-cost models used to simulate customer evaluations of competitor technical offerings and, if applicable, their industrial participation / offset / Transfer of Technology solutions.
• Cost models (development, production, and sustainment) that can be used to estimate both total acquisition cost and the complete life cycle cost of our key competitors’ products as configured for a specific customer.
• Customer scoring models are the unique combination of the cost and non-cost evaluations as defined for a specific competition
Research / Competitive Intelligence: Conduct research in the public domain to gain and maintain an understanding of customer and competitor wants, needs, and tendencies. Use this understanding to evaluate competitor capabilities and business strategies that my affect their proposal offerings.

Basic Qualifications:
• Knowledge and understanding of the capture process and current business area products/technologies
• Experience in developing and evaluating cost/price estimates or affordability assessments pertaining to aircraft development, production or logistics support
• Functional domain awareness (finance, engineering, program management), business acumen, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills
• Strong presentation/communication and interpersonal skills
• Competitive intelligence and market research experience
Desired Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to provide recommendations in the absence of complete information
• Ability to accept challenges to recommendations without being defensive – willing to look for ways to improve the product
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high stress campaign environment
• Demonstrated ability to provide critical thinking and express contrarian views to capture managers and executives
• Familiarity with commercial estimating tools, particularly, Price Systems estimating tools
• Knowledge of key competitor companies and their products
• Ability to view LM Aero strengths and weaknesses objectively

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $118,100 - $226,400. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
