The base pay scale for this position is $47,000.00 - $71,750.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. ABOUT THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE:
The HSS Research Institute is dedicated to research on identifying mechanisms underlying bone biology and rheumatic conditions, including autoimmune rheumatic disease and developing effective approaches for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. With a focus on tissue repair, improving surgical outcomes, autoimmunity and inflammation, genomics, new treatments, and precision medicine, the impact of our discoveries determine future directions of musculoskeletal research to best improve clinical outcomes, while serving the community in an environment that aspires to scientific excellence.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Post-Baccalaureate Researcher Program (www.hss.edu/post-baccalaureate-training-program.asp) offers more formal training in science and opportunities to present research at conferences and write manuscripts for publication, in preparation for graduate or medical school. A two-year commitment is preferred. The trainee will develop an independent project and the program offers opportunities to develop strong translational research experience relevant for individuals interested in furthering their career by pursuing medical school or other clinical training. The Postbac Fellow (trainee position) will work on a project title, Endothelial Cell S1PR1 Shapes the Autoimmune Response and may Attenuate Injury in Experimental Lupus. Specifically, the Postbac fellow will utilize molecular/genomic approaches/animal models to investigate the S1P/S1PR1 axis in lupus nephritis and broader implications of endothelial cells in this complex and heterogeneous disease. While the primary focus of the work will be on animal models, these studies will be coupled with studies on patient samples with the ultimate goal of impacting therapy.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in biomedical field
Experience: Prefer experience working in a research lab
Additional Documents: Copy of college/university undergraduate transcript

Strong written and communication skills
Proficient use of computers and software, including Microsoft Excel and Word
Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
Friendliness and collaborative spirit are vital
Knowledge of Orthopedic and/or Rheumatologic terminology is a plus.
