Post Doc Fellow
Overview The Okeoma Lab invites applications to an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral fellowship. Our research focuses on understanding the biology and functions of extracellular particles, including extracellular vesicles (EVs) and extracellular condensates (ECs). Our work extensively involves cell culture, biochemistry, transcriptomics, and proteomics. Responsibilities + Daily research operations of a biomedical research laboratory in the NYMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology, & Immunology. + Ability to independently design, execute, interpret experiments, and publish manuscripts. + Ability to work in collaboration with other members of the laboratory and Okeoma lab collaborators. + Will assist in preparing grant proposals and research progress reports on funded grants. + Ensure adherence to all appropriate safety regulations. + Implement the Lab data management program. + Experience developing methods/assays and related instrumentation, is a plus. + Ability to multi-task. Qualifications Education requirement:Minimum PhD or equivalent degree in any Biomedical/Life Science or Health Related Fields is required. Technical/computer skills: + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, and clients. + Ability to perform bioinformatics analysis of Omics data. Prior experience: + Previous experience with Omics data analysis would be an advantage. Physical demands: + Ability to work with sensitive materials and scientific equipment. Environmental demands: + Basic sciences wet laboratory setting. + May at times require working with or being in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. + May perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing and gloves, and possibly a respirator. + May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs. + Requires standing on the feet sometimes for 5 to 8 hours.
